On Tuesday, Brussels leaders, with Ursula von der Leyen taking the lead, agreed with President Zelenskyy on the continuation of the war, Prime Minister Viktor Orbán posted on Facebook on Wednesday.
Mr Orbán added that this was bad news for Europe; a war will continue to which there is evidently no solution on the frontline, but results in terrible devastation.
He highlighted: every month 35,000 people die or become disabled, while the frontline is barely moving. Widows, orphans, mothers mourning their sons in the hundreds of thousands – this is what Brussels supports.
The continuation of the war costs the European people an enormous amount of money: hundreds of billions of euros are being burnt for nothing. This war will break not the Russians, but the Europeans. Additionally, the risk of a nuclear war also remains on the horizon because Europe is up against a nuclear great power, he added.
“If we let them, they would drag us in as well. Last week in Munich, [President of the Tisza Party] Péter Magyar concluded his secret pact, under German patronage, with the Brussels leaders. In return for the support of Brussels and Kiev, he will enrol Hungary in the group of warring European countries and will consent to providing financial support for Ukraine. He will detach Hungary from cheap oil and gas,” Mr Orbán wrote.
The pact is secret so that the Hungarians cannot find out the truth before the elections. Based on the pact, Péter Magyar and the Tisza Party sided not with the Hungarians, but with Ukraine on the issue of the Ukrainian-Hungarian energy battle, he added.
“Hungary must stay out of this. The Hungarian government must preserve Hungary’s security. This is exactly what we will do. Fidesz is the safe choice,” Mr Orbán wrote.
