Prime Minister Viktor Orbán visited Museum of Hungarian Language in Széphalom

A video recording of the visit entitled Tribute to Kazinczy was posted on the Prime Minister’s Facebook account on Wednesday.

Mr Orbán was shown around by Szilárd Demeter, Director General of the Petőfi Literary Museum. He showed the Prime Minister the Kazinczy Garden, regarding which he said they would like to create a pilgrimage site in the garden where visitors can immerse themselves in the beauty of the Hungarian language.

They would also like visitors, he added, “to leave as better Hungarians”.

The Museum of the Hungarian Language was opened on 23 April 2008 on the premises of Ferenc Kazinczy’s former orchard in Széphalom, now forming part of the City of Sátoraljaújhely. The institution’s most important unit is the permanent exhibition which introduces the secrets, beauty and history of our mother tongue using the latest technological facilities, in accordance with the needs of the 21st century. The permanent exhibition is a worthy supplement to the Kazinczy Memorial Hall, the information on the museum’s website reads. The memorial hall is a historical memorial site.

The Museum of the Hungarian Language is a sub-division of the Petőfi Literary Museum.
