Viktor Orbán’s statement on Facebook
16 March 2022 Budapest

We are going to the barracks in Debrecen, where we will be working over the next three days. This is because early this morning there were reports that the number of refugees who have arrived in Hungary has reached 429,000. The war is not subsiding, but spreading; and as it spreads, there is the risk that next week will see the arrival of more people in Hungary, presenting us with a huge challenge. The reason that so many are arriving is that now they are not only fleeing from areas threatened by war, but also from war zones themselves. We are proud of the fact that so far Hungary has been able to provide for every refugee. Over the next three days we will organise next week’s emergency programme, so that we can continue to help all those in need.
