Prime Minister Viktor Orbán to have talks with European conservative leaders at the weekend

The newspaper El Independiente reported at the weekend in Madrid President of the Spanish right-wing party Vox Santiago Abascal will receive invited European leaders. Despite the crisis in Ukraine, Mr Abascal decided to hold the summit, they report, and Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán and Polish Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki have already confirmed attendance of the meeting.

Mr Abascal has travelled to Hungary and Poland several times in the past in order to share his political vision with his European allies. Most recently, he paid a visit to Warsaw where he announced that Europe’s conservative leaders had accepted his invitation to Madrid.

Vox have since confirmed that the summit will take place on 28 and 29 January, El Independiente reports. The article adds Mr Abascal has stated several times that Hungary and Poland are Vox’s two “favourite allies,” they are in “perfect agreement” with the leaders of these countries as regards the issues of the protection of the borders, family policy and the protection of sovereign nations.

According to the information of El Independiente, Vox have invited to the weekend summit and are expecting confirmation from a number of conservative leaders, including France’s Marine Le Pen, Estonia’s Martin Helme and Italy’s Giorgia Meloni.
