Prime Minister Viktor Orbán had talks with Vice-President of the European Commission

On Friday afternoon, Prime Minister Viktor Orbán received Vice-President of the European Commission Margaritis Schinas in the Carmelite Monastery, Bertalan Havasi, the head of the Press Office of the Prime Minister informed the Hungarian news agency MTI.

Topics of the meeting included the war in Ukraine and the humanitarian crisis situation that has evolved in its wake.

The parties said the primary goal was to restore peace in Ukraine within the shortest possible time, and for the European Union to remain united throughout the efforts aimed at this.

The EU Commissioner spoke in words of praise about the helpfulness manifested by the Hungarian authorities, civil society organisations and Hungarian citizens towards refugees coming from Ukraine which he personally experienced during his visit to the border.

He made a promise that the European Union will support these efforts.
