Prime Minister Viktor Orbán greeted his Polish counterpart Mateusz Morawiecki and the entire Polish nation in a message on the occasion of 3 May Constitution Day, Bertalan Havasi, the Deputy State Secretary heading the Press Office of the Prime Minister informed the Hungarian news agency MTI on Monday.

In his writing, the Prime Minister highlighted that we remember 3 May 1791 as a momentous event not only of the Polish state, but also in the history of the whole of Europe. The 3 May Constitution gave hope to all nations of the continent as by reinforcing the rights of the middle classes, and strengthening the foundations of Christian social order and the concept of the nation, it showed a way out of the stifling clutches of the great European empires, Mr Orbán wrote.

He added that 230 years had elapsed since the adoption of the Constitution, but its message resonates with our ears as a familiar tune to this day, national sovereignty is still at odds with imperial aspirations, and also today our goal is to preserve a Europe that is based on strong and free nations against imperial aspirations.
