Hungary and Serbia want peace

On Saturday morning in Belgrade, Prime Minister Viktor Orbán had talks with Serbian head of state Aleksandar Vucic, Bertalan Havasi, the head of the Press Office of the Prime Minister informed the Hungarian news agency MTI.

At the meeting, which was also attended by Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Péter Szijjártó, the parties spoke about the Russia-Ukraine war, Europe’s security situation, the EU prospects of the Western Balkans, and current issues of Serbian-Hungarian economic cooperation.

Mr Orbán and Mr Vucic laid down that both Hungary and Serbia would like peace. Our countries have a vested interest in staying out of the war because there is no scope for economic advancement amidst a war.

On Saturday, the two leaders will attend the ceremonial inauguration of the Belgrade-Újvidék (Novi Sad) section of the Budapest-Belgrade railway line in Újvidék.
