Facebook statement by Prime Minister Viktor Orbán after the latest Cabinet meeting
28 September 2022, Budapest

It’s Wednesday, so a Cabinet meeting. The Government’s been in session since this morning, and we’ve mainly been dealing with the issue of energy prices. Brussels has forced energy sanctions on Member States, and since then energy prices have been sky-high. When this happened, Brussels promised that the sanctions would end the war and would hurt the aggressor more than the Member States of the European Union. Instead of this, today the reality is that every citizen of Europe is paying a sanctions-induced surcharge for their energy. At its meeting today the Government adopted an initiative from the Fidesz parliamentary group: we are launching a national consultation on the sanctions. I ask everyone to state their opinion, because only through collective action can we put an end to the rise in energy prices.
