In a video posted on his social media account – which is an extract from the interview that was published on the YouTube channel of the programme ‘Five’ on Thursday evening – the Prime Minister said leaders of the European Union announced that they wanted to admit Ukraine to the European Union by 2030, at the latest. This is what we must prevent, he stated, observing that “[the Hungarians] can do so now, it won’t be possible later.”
Regarding the opinion vote initiated by the government in connection with Ukraine, Mr Orbán highlighted that they were giving every Hungarian citizen a chance “to decide on this issue.”
“They want to admit a country which is not sovereign. We don’t know where the eastern borders of this country lie. We don’t know the exact size of its territory. We don’t know the size of its population. This country is unable to sustain itself. The Americans and we are sustaining it,” Mr Orbán pointed out in connection with Ukraine. He added that meanwhile, this Ukraine was demanding that we – as in the European Union – “assume an obligation for many long decades to maintain the Ukrainian army of a million from the money of the European people.”
