We will not allow anyone to make Hungarian families pay the price of Ukraine’s accession

The President of the European Commission launched a frontal assault on Central Europe, including on Hungary because she wants to prohibit Hungary from buying cheap gas and oil from Russia, Prime Minister Viktor Orbán stated in a video he posted on Facebook on Thursday.

With this, the President of the Commission tabled a proposal which would bankrupt Europe and would impose an unbearable burden on families, the Prime Minister pointed out.

Mr Orbán stressed that gas supply was not a political, but an economic issue. What the President of the Commission is forcing would mean that Hungarian families would be compelled to pay double to two and a half times more for household energy than what they are paying at present from one day to the next, he added.

“This is the Brussels surcharge. We don’t want to pay that. Resistance has started, yesterday, (Slovak) Prime Minister Robert Fico, too, joined the line of battle. Ceterum censeo, we will not allow anyone to make Hungarian families pay the price of Ukraine’s accession,” the Prime Minister said.

The caption attached to the video statement reads: “Brussels is banning the importation of cheap Russian gas, the household energy bills of Hungarian families will increase two to two and a half-fold. We will not allow anyone to make Hungarian families pay the price of Ukraine’s accession. VOTE2025.”
