Ukraine’s admission is not a good deal

Ukraine’s admission to the European Union is not a good deal. Ukraine is not added value, it is bankruptcy, Prime Minister Viktor Orbán wrote on his social media account.

Head of the European People’s Party group Manfred Weber sent a message to the Hungarians at a press conference held today. “We must repay him in kind,” he wrote.

He pointed out that Hungary had been admitted to the European Union because the members had benefited from this. “It was a good deal. Also for Germany, Herr Weber,” he wrote.

“Ukraine’s admission is not a good deal. Ukraine is not added value, it is bankruptcy, pure and simple. Sending European money to Ukraine – instead of spending it on reinforcing the European economy which is struggling with problems – is an enormous mistake. It would be time for European leaders to finally represent the European people, Herr Weber,” the Prime Minister wrote.
