Prime Minister Viktor Orbán had talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin 

Prime Minister Viktor Orbán had talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin on the phone, Bertalan Havasi, the Prime Minister’s press chief informed the Hungarian news agency MTI on Wednesday. 

The two leaders reviewed topical issues of their countries’ continuously expanding bilateral economic and trade cooperation. They paid particular attention to further supporting the realisation of mutually advantageous energy projects. 

They also spoke about the situation in Ukraine; in this context, Mr Orbán indicated that he had a vested interest in finding a political and diplomatic solution to the crisis, with regard to his relations with a number of western leaders. At the same time, Mr Putin gave the Hungarian Prime Minister an account of the current state of affairs in Ukraine and the development of the situation. 

They also discussed the tense situation in the Middle East region in connection with recent events in Syria, Mr Havasi reported.
