Balázs Orbán is the Prime Minister’s political director; he is to receive a new, wider range of responsibilities

Prime Minister Viktor Orbán will continue to rely on Balázs Orbán – formerly Deputy Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office – as political director, Bertalan Havasi, the head of the Press Office of the Prime Minister informed the Hungarian news agency MTI.

According to the bill submitted to Parliament, the Prime Minister’s political director will help the activities and decision-making processes of the Prime Minister and the government with advice and opinions on general political, foreign and public policy, social, economic and other policy issues.

Mr Havasi pointed out that the bill on the amendment of the law on governmental administration also lays down that the Prime Minister’s political director – similar to the prime minister, ministers and state secretaries – is a senior political leader.
