At this time, Hungary needs unity, cooperation and security

At this time, Hungary needs unity, cooperation and security, Prime Minister-President of Fidesz Viktor Orbán stated in a video posted on Facebook on Friday morning in which he encouraged voters to attend the Sunday parliamentary elections and to support the government parties, and he promised to protect every family.

Mr Orbán said this is no time for dissension, anger or hatred; at this time, Hungary needs unity, cooperation and security .

“We profess national unity, and in the major European crisis we are facing, we will protect every Hungarian family,” the Prime Minister laid down in a video released under the title ‘A message for every Hungarian.’

He said on Sunday, the Hungarians will elect not only a government, but “a fate for the country.” He took the view: in 16 years, together with the Hungarians, we have turned a dilapidated country into a stable and secure home. He said they sent the International Monetary Fund packing, imposed extra taxes on banks and multinational companies, and by doing so, they have put an end to Hungary’s exposure.

They have created a million new jobs, have introduced the thirteenth and fourteenth monthly pension, and by raising the minimum wage, they have achieved a four-fold increase in wages, he listed, adding that they introduced a scheme for the reduction of household energy bills and have protected Hungarian families from skyrocketing fuel prices.

“We built a fence, and stopped illegal migration, and we were able to say no to the war even against Brussels,” Mr Orbán stressed. The Prime Minister said today we are facing the threat of the country losing the results it has achieved in the past 16 years because in addition to the wars being waged in the world, an energy and financial crisis is knocking at Europe’s door which Hungary cannot stay out of.

He said their opponents do not stop at anything in order to secure power. They are colluding with foreign intelligence services, are threatening the supporters of the government parties with violence, and based on trumped-up accusations, they are crying election fraud already before the elections. They are organising demonstrations and rowdy gatherings already now, before they even counted their votes, Mr Orbán added.

In summary, he said “this is an organised attempt to question the Hungarian people’s decision with chaos, pressure and international discrediting campaigns.” The Prime Minister asked members of the electorate to speak to their family members, friends and acquaintances, and to tell them that “the stakes are enormous, change is a source of danger, Fidesz is the safe choice.”
