Here we are in Brussels. At this extraordinary EU summit we heard from the President of Ukraine. The amount of humanitarian aid that Hungary has provided to Ukraine over the past year is the largest in our country’s history. We’ve admitted over one million refugees from Ukraine across our borders. Having listened to the President of Ukraine, it’s clear that this war is dragging on, and that we can’t count on it ending any time soon. As it drags on, we Hungarians will continue to help the Ukrainians with humanitarian aid, but we will also continue our policy of not supplying weapons. The Hungarian interest continues to be the soonest possible ceasefire, peace negotiations and a settlement leading to a lasting peace. Only peace and a ceasefire can save lives. We Hungarians continue to stand on the side of peace.
